Roxas

Formerly a Nobody, an empty shell that continued to live without its heart, Roxas was one of two attempts by Organization XIII to acquire the powers of the Keyblade. Unlike other Nobodies, however, Roxas could experience emotions and form friendships like the one he had with Axel, another Nobody of the Organization. A certain event triggered Roxas's decision to betray and abandon the Organization, at which point he was captured and imprisoned inside a virtual world and given the memories of a normal, teenage boy. The intention was to prepare Roxas to merge with a slumbering Keyblade Master, Sora, whose heart had fallen to darkness (thus causing Roxas to be, as his Nobody).

Once complete, Sora could go on to pursue his destiny to save the worlds from the threat of darkness. Discovering the truth when Axel broke into the virtual world to take his former friend back by force, Roxas resisted, until the gravity of Sora's importance had Roxas at last resigning himself to his fate. He merged with Sora, surrendering his autonomy for the sake of a future that could only be saved if Sora lived.
